BILLY BOLT WINS EXTREME XL LAGARES 2018

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing youngster takes early lead in World Enduro Super Series

Rockstar Energy HusqvarnaFactory Racing’s Billy Bolt has claimed victory at the opening round of the 2018 World Enduro Super Series – the Extreme XL Lagares in Portugal. Making a triumphant start to his WESS campaign, the win marks Bolt's first major victory in outdoor, international enduro competition. Ensuring a successful time for Husqvarna at the Portuguese Hard Enduro race, Graham Jarvis brought his TE 300i home in fifth.

Determined to make a strong start to the inaugural World Enduro Super Series, rising talent Bolt began the three-day Extreme XL Lagares race in confident fashion. With two days of qualification before Sunday’s main race, Bolt got off to a winning start in Friday night’s Endurocross. Fresh off his runner-up result in the SuperEnduro World Championship, the British rider looked at ease on the muddy and wet course. Comfortably winning his heat race, he then went onto place ahead of Jonny Walker and teammate Colton Haaker for victory in the Super Final.

Day two of racing took riders to down town Porto for the infamous Urban Prologue. Racing through narrow cobbled streets around the city’s touristic quayside, Bolt fought hard against rival Walker but had to be content with the runner-up result.

As the third fastest qualifier to start Sunday’s main race, Bolt knew that a tough two-lap event lay ahead. Working his way up to second at the end of lap one, he attacked hard on lap two. Using the back-markers to his advantage he caught and passed early pace setter Walker with one-quarter of a lap to go.Charging his way to the finishing arena he took the win and the first victory of the 2018 WESS championship.

As a three-time winner of the Extreme XL Lagares, Graham Jarvis entered the 14th edition of the race as one of the main favourites for victory among the 47 Pro class competitors. Knowing a tough couple of days awaited him, the Husqvarna rider rode a series of calculated qualification races to secure his starting position of sixth for Sunday’s main race.

Riding smoothly during the opening lap, Jarvis worked his way into a strong position – ready to attack for the latter half of the race. However, negotiating an extremely slippery section of the course, he injured his upper left leg. Although in discomfort, he gallantly soldiered on to record an extremely impressive fifth place result.

Competing in Extreme XL Lagares for the first time, Colton Haaker experienced a mixed event. Feeling most at home during Friday’s Endurocross, the two-time SuperEnduro World Champion battled hard for victory only to miss out on the final lap. Riding well during Sunday’s main race, Haaker looked to be enjoying his time on the demanding Portuguese terrain. But a crash at the mid-way section of the race saw him fail to finish.

The World Enduro Super Series continues with round two at the Erzbergrodeo Hare Scramble in Austria, June 1-3.

Billy Bolt:
“Winning Extreme XL Lagares is a fantastic way to start the World Enduro Super Series. With this being my first time competing in the race, I honestly wasn’t sure how it would go. It’s such a demanding and technical event that it requires a lot of past experience to fight for the victory. So to end it on the top step of the podium is even a little more than I expected. Friday and Saturday’s racing were really good to be fair. It was nice to win the Endurocross following such a close battle. The Porto Prologue was crazy. I’d never ridden anything like it before and even though I watched all the videos, they just didn’t do the scale of the course any justice. Skimming past spectators while flat out up cobbled streets was an unbelievable feeling. For Sunday’s race I knew I was in a good position starting third. With Jonny Walker and Cody Webb up ahead it gave me something to chase. I settled in well and surprised myself by catching and passing Cody early on. Jonny was riding great on lap one and I couldn’t close the gap, but once we started lap two and caught the back markers I was able to gain ground and by three quarters distance I was in the lead. I knew the overall result was based on corrected time so I kept charging to the finish line. With Extreme XL Lagares forming round one of WESS it’s great to be leading the championship at this early stage.”

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING MAKES HISTORY AS ANDERSON AND OSBORNE ARE CROWNED SUPERCROSS CHAMPS IN LAS VEGAS!

It was a historic and monumental night for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jason Anderson and team. Having never captured a 450SX championship since the brand’s inception 115 years ago, the most prestigious title in the sport was theirs when the checkered flag flew on Saturday for the final round of the 2018 AMA Supercross Championship in Las Vegas. The premier class title marked Jason Anderson’s first in only his fourth season as a 450 rider. The 25-year-old grabbed the red plate at round two with a win and never looked back, outlasting the deeply stacked and talented field.

A successful collaboration between the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team and the Husqvarna Motorcycles engineers, gave birth to the FC 450 Rockstar Edition. Inspired by their dedication to perform at the highest level, this successful collaboration is the foundation that achieved the brand’s first-ever premier Supercross title. In a sport of absolutes that requires exceptional courage, meticulous preparation and unwavering determination, Jason Anderson and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team paved the way to this historic milestone. Our pioneering spirit, powered by the support of our partners, will continue to progress the sport through athlete and machine. With the mindset of always looking ahead, the pioneer seeks the next opportunity to elevate themselves.

With a monumental championship on the line, Anderson took on a conservative approach to the final round. Qualifying third, the newly-crowned 450SX Champion got off to a top-three start in his heat, where he settled into second early on. He maintained his second-place transfer position for the remainder of the heat race, shifting his focus toward the Main Event. Anderson got a top-ten start in the Main Event but he quickly established himself in the fifth-place position early on. He maintained a solid pace for the remainder of the 21-lap Main Event to finish fifth overall on the way to claim his first-ever 450SX title.

“Today was really stressful, but I feel like I handled it really well and came out with the championship,” Anderson said. “I’m so excited. We put our whole lives into this, we’ve been riding dirtbikes for so long and to win this championship, me and my team, it’s the most surreal moment of my life up to this point.”

Teammate Zach Osborne also made history as he successfully defended his title and claimed his second-consecutive 250SX East Championship aboard his Husqvarna FC 250. Osborne continued to outsmart the competition and displayed his razor-sharp agility as he experienced continued success and progression the entire season.

Osborne set the tone for the day as top qualifier in the 250SX East division, where he went on to capture a commanding heat race win. As the gate dropped for the 250SX E/W Showdown Main Event, Osborne had trouble getting off the line as he found himself nearly last at the start of the opening lap. Osborne immediately began climbing through the pack to reach a top-ten position by the end of lap one. With a championship mindset, Osborne maintained his seventh-place position to emerge as a two-time 250SX champion as the checkers flew.

“This year has been tough for me. I’ve had to fight every inch for this championship,” Osborne said. “Jordon and the rest of the guys rode really awesome this whole season and gave me a heck of a challenge. This was the hardest one so far, I would say, but it’s amazing to be a three-time champion.”

250SX East Rookie Michael Mosiman grabbed an impressive holeshot in the heat race, where he led the first two laps before his teammate Osborne took over the lead. Mosiman went on to capture a fourth-place transfer into the 250SX E/W Showdown Main Event. He didn’t get a favorable start in the main, where he began in 16th on lap one. Mosiman fought his way up to 12th to claim a career-best finish.

“My rookie season has come to a close!” Mosiman said. “It was a good day. I really felt good, I kind of got into my flow and started playing with the bike and moving things around and it was good to find some consistency.”

250SX West competitor Mitchell Harrison grabbed a seventh-place transfer position in his heat race to secure his spot in the stacked E/W Showdown. Harrison got off to a mid-pack start where he battled for a top-ten position for most of the race before dropping back to ultimately finish 17th.

“Tonight’s finish definitely wasn’t what we were looking for to end the season, but I feel like I was riding well all night,” Harrison said. “I’m happy to end the season healthy.”

Dean Wilson fought through the pain of a dislocated thumb that he sustained last round in Salt Lake City to claim a top-ten finish at the finale. Wilson secured a solid transfer into the 450SX Main Event with a top-five finish in his heat race. He got off to a top-ten start in the Main Event and held strong to finish eighth for the night, securing seventh overall in the 450SX Championship Standings.

“The last round of SX was really a tough weekend,” Wilson said. “I’ve been dealing with nagging injuries all season and last weekend I injured my thumb from something that wasn’t my fault, so that was kind of frustrating because I was riding with pain all day. Seventh overall in the series is not that great of a result but I finished the season. I know I’m better than what I did but injuries kind of held me back this season.”

This achievement also comes as a career-first for Team Manager, Bobby Hewitt, who since taking the team from a privateer effort to a full factory program has successfully managed to collect several historical accolades, and continues to lead the team on a pioneering journey forward. Hewitt’s belief in Anderson’s talent from a very young age ultimately led to his career with Husqvarna, which extends another four years.

“This is what we’ve worked for,” Hewitt said. “It’s definitely a milestone – for us, for Husqvarna, for Rockstar, for all the staff – everybody. No one realizes how much work goes into it and to be able to bring home two championships – one in each class; very few are able to do that. I’m proud of the staff, I’m proud of the riders, I’m proud of everybody. I couldn’t be happier right now.”

Husqvarna Motorcycles’ continued success is due to the solid core of people that are committed to a never-ending climb for greatness. This historic moment is felt by the entire organization behind Husqvarna Motorcycles and there exists an endless list of individuals that have contributed to this highpoint. Included in this list is Global Motorsports Partner, Rockstar Energy. With the continued and essential support from Rockstar Energy, the Husqvarna brand has been able to grow and achieve monumental success.

“The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team did an outstanding job this season, earning the brand its most distinguished victory in its 115-year history,” commented Blaine Schuttler, Husqvarna Motorcycles North America Managing Director. “The foundation of the success for Husqvarna is part of a group effort to which we owe thanks to Global Motorsports Director, Pit Beirer; Vice President of Motorsports Off-road, Robert Jonas; North American Vice President of Motorsports, Roger DeCoster and Technical Director, Ian Harrison. This also would not be possible without the continued support from our Global Motorsports Partner, Rockstar Energy, and all of our sponsors.”

Elevating the sport might mean something different from one person to the next. To Husqvarna Motorcycles, it means taking a pioneering approach to evolving man and machine while never resting on your laurels. Today the brand has been elevated to the next level and will continue to strive for reaching new heights.

Congratulations Jason Anderson, Zach Osborne and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team.

Determined to wrap up his week-long adventure in Morocco on a high, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pablo Quintanilla has topped the fifth and final stage of the Merzouga Rally to secure a solid third overall in the event’s final overall standings. Continuing to make progress Andrew Short has claimed a spot inside the top 10 in the overall.

Featuring a mass, motocross-styled start in the dunes of the Merzouga Desert, the fifth and final stage of the event saw Pablo Quintanilla put in a dominant performance. Posting the fastest time for the day, the Chilean rally star solidified his strong third position in the overall standings.

Putting in his best individual stage performance Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Andrew Short crossed the line in eighth position. Wrapping up the Merzouga Rally 10th in the overall, the American is content with the progress he made during the week in Morocco.

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team will return to action at the third round of the 2018 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, the Atacama Rally in Chile on August 11/19.

Pablo Quintanilla
“Today was a really fun stage. We had the motocross start and it was good to battle with the guys from start to finish. I got off to a good start but five or six kilometres into the stage I had a small crash that dropped me back a few positions. Then I had to push until the end and 10km before the finish I got the lead back and was the first to cross the finish line. It felt really nice to win a stage that way. Overall, I’m satisfied with my third position in the overall. This was a tough race with tricky navigation and to be on the podium is always good. We continue to gather experience and look ahead in the races to come.”

Andrew Short
“I really enjoyed this week in Morocco. Especially this last day was really fun, bringing back memories from my days racing motocross. Before the flag dropped the nerves were there and I was maybe a bit late off the start. It was a good experience racing alongside the fastest guys in the dunes and being able to see their pace. The adrenaline kicked in and I had some really good fun. Overall, the week has been great for me. I enjoy the atmosphere in rally racing and I feel I am improving, getting closer to the top guys. I might still have a long way to go but I understand it needs to be done step-by-step. This week was a positive step in the right direction.”

HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES PRESENT 2019 MINI MOTOCROSS RANGE

NEW TC 50, TC 65 AND TC 85 MINICYCLES RAISE THE BAR IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CLASSES

Husqvarna Motorcycles are pleased to introduce the updated for 2019 TC 50, TC 65 and TC 85 motocross models – a complete line-up of three 2-stroke motorcycles that combine premium technology with top-end componentry to offer young riders one of the most advanced mini motocross ranges currently available.

The 2019 TC 50, TC 65 and TC 85 machines offer the next generation of motocross riders the chance to experience the thrill of riding their first real race machine. Perfectly embodying Husqvarna’s pioneering spirit, all three new models continue to set the benchmark in terms of handling, power and weight in their respective classes.

HUSQVARNA TC 50
Offering the same striking looks and ergonomic feel as Husqvarna’s full-sized motocross machines, the new TC 50 is perfect for the motocross stars of tomorrow. Featuring superior quality components, the TC 50 has been designed from the ground up in order to be a true premium 50 cc motocross bike. The TC 50 is built around an advanced steel frame, which houses the most powerful engine in its category.

Featuring the latest in 2-stroke technology, the engine makes use of a 3-shaft design for improved centralisation of masses. The exhaust is specifically designed to match the characteristics of the 2-stroke powerplant. The engine is fitted with an automatic centrifugal clutch that reduces riding complexity for younger riders. Part of the official Husqvarna Motorcycles Accessories range, a special kit allows for a reduction of the power to 5.5 hp.

Leading components such as the WP suspension add up to create a motorcycle that sets the benchmark in the class. The TC 50 is fitted with a revolutionary WP AER 35 fork. Besides being very light, the 35 mm forks allow the rider to push the limit with confidence. With 205 mm of wheel travel, the air unit in the left fork leg can be adjusted with an air pump. Offering 185 mm of suspension travel, the WP monoshock is matched perfectly to the front forks.

HUSQVARNA TC 65
The new TC 65 offers young motocross fans the chance to experience a full race bike with a hydraulic clutch and a manual gearbox, possibly for the first time in their riding careers. Featuring premium components as standard, the TC 65 offers exactly the same quality as that found on Husqvarna’s larger motocross machines.

Highly competitive in the 65 cc class, the TC 65 engine is built using the lightest and most durable materials. Featuring the latest in 2-stroke technology, it has a pressure-controlled exhaust valve which helps obtain top level performance. Additionally, the engine features a manual 6-speed transmission and hydraulic clutch allowing the rider to have full control of the power delivery.

Sophisticated components such as the cast aluminium swingarm are blend together with advanced solutions like the intelligent cooling circuit to create a motorcycle that is modern and highly competitive. In the suspension department, the TC 65 features a revolutionary WP AER 35 fork, with 215 mm of wheel travel and an adjustable air unit in its left fork. Combining the latest in chassis technology with state of the art WP suspension, it offers young mini riders the chance to push their limits with confidence.

Setting the benchmark in the class, the TC 85 2-stroke engine combines top level performance with optimum reliability. The cylinder is designed around an innovative power valve system that significantly enhances power, torque and controllability. Key to the engine is an innovative power valve which allows power delivery to be tailored simply and effectively. The 6-speed gearbox and Formula hydraulic diaphragm spring clutch allow for the power to be correctly delivered across the RPM range.

Pablo Quintanilla:
“I’m really happy to get the win in Abu Dhabi and it’s been a fantastic start to the new season. This year’s Desert Challenge has been a really tough race from the beginning until the end. During these last few days we battled through extreme heat and the massive sand dunes of the area. There were many high-speed tracks and lots of off-piste sections where navigation was crucial. We also had some great fights with my main competitors and I’m happy I came out on top. I would like to thank all the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team for the amazing job they did during this week. They are always by my side and this helps me achieve the results I want. It feels good to start the season with a victory and I’m looking forward to the events to come.”

PODIUM RESULTS FOR ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA RIDERS AT LACAPELLE MARIVAL MASTERCROSS

THIRD FOR MAX ANSTIE IN MX1 AND SECOND FOR THOMAS KJER-OLSEN IN MX2

Collecting top three results during the 2018 edition of the Lacapelle Marival Mastercross, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders have wrapped up their pre-season racing activities on a positive note. The ideal warm-up for the fast approaching 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship, the event in France saw Max Anstie secure third overall in MX1 class, with MX2 rider Thomas Kjer-Olsen finishing as a runner-up in the 250cc class.

Battling through muddy conditions, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie delivered strong moto performances in each of the three motos contested in France. Kicking off the day with fourth in the opening MX1 moto, the Brit improved to third in moto two. Claiming third overall in the elite MX1 category, Anstie went on to wrap up the day with a solid runner-up result in the combined MX1/MX2 Superfinal.

Racing in front of his home fans, Gautier Paulin suffered from a few small mistakes that prevented the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider from showing his full potential. Going 7-8 in the two MX1 motos, the FC 450 mounted rider ended the day with a seventh place result in the Superfinal.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer-Olsen rounded out his pre-season racing activities with a strong runner-up result in the MX2 class in France. Fourth in the opening moto, the young Dane went on to claim a solid second in the 250cc class’ second race. Battling through a bad start, Thomas wrapped up the day with eighth in the Superfinal.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team riders will now head to Argentina for the start of the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship on March 3/4.

Max Anstie:
“We had a solid day of racing here in France. It was also good training in muddy conditions for the coming MXGP season. I had three strong motos and I’m happy with my performance overall. In the opening moto I had a bad start, but battled my way up to fourth place at the chequered flag. Then in moto two my start was not good either. I did my best again and battled my way to third. The combined MX1 and MX2 Supefinal was possibly my best moto for the day. I got the holeshot and had a great battle with the final winner Herlings to end up second. It’s been a good day and I’m looking forward to the start of the World Championship in Argentina.”

Gautier Paulin:
“Track conditions were tricky today and this helped get some good training on the bike. So far I am really satisfied with the performance of my FC 450 machine. We’ve worked a lot during the off-season with the team and now we have a bike that I’m really enjoying racing a lot. In the first moto I got a good start but two small crashes during the race forced me to settle for seventh place. There were not many passing points on the track and that made thins harder. In moto two I had some wheel spin out of the gate so could not get a good start. So eighth was the best I could do. In the Superfinal I finally got a good start but a few mistakes here and there got me finish seventh again. Overall, I’m confident with the bike. I just need to work harder on avoiding mistakes so that I can have a good start to the 2018 MXGP series.”

Thomas Kjer-Olsen:
“It was a good last test today and I’m happy with second overall. Conditions were tricky today so it was crucial to avoid mistakes. In the opening moto I didn’t manage to get the desired feeling in the mud. My start was good but then I had two small crashes that didn’t let me battle for the top three. I had a much better start in moto two and managed to secure second. With the team we made some suspension adjustments during the break and that worked to our favour. In the Superfinal my start was not great so I did my best and ended up eighth. We’ve worked really hard during the off-season and now I feel 100% ready for the start of the World Championship in two weeks time in Argentina.”
